    UMA JOKES

I always loved the Fox force five joke thread in Pulp Fiction.

It’s not a great joke. I believe there are several tellings of it over on Jokeyphone, but this is done in a way that has so much emotional resonance and it’s really used as a link to the characters for Tarantino, and an easy way to give his small talk context. Earlier in the scene as the fifties diner as they wolf down burgers Thurman’s character sets it up and tells him about a pilot he did called Fox Force Five. Her character tells a joke. She refuses to tell Travolta the joke as she’s sure he won’t laugh. Later after a horrible night where she almost died from a heroin overdose, and he sees his life come to an end as she’s his crazy bosses wife, he drops her off and as she goes inside she finally gives up the joke, and sure enough he doesn’t laugh. It’s not that he’s a stronger man that to be tempted by her charm, it’s that fate has played the night out in a way that the deck is now stacked in his favor. He has what it takes to walk away.

Hitler gets thrown off of the XBOX

The Hitler mashups from the movie Downfall are another example of the new internet comedy staples. There are a lot of them out there, this is my favorite. I love the fact that this movie, which was excellent, lives on like this in this world, in this fashion. If you see next to the link on it’s Youtube page, almost anything works if you subtitle it. Anything is a good enough reason for Hitler to blow up and lose his shit. It’s also another  fitting end to the Hitler story that he ends up a mashable stooge/pawn of internet comedians soem sixty years after he’s gone … If you see or have done any great versions of this link it below and we’ll pass it along.

People I like - Leon Jackson

    Leon+Jackson+-+Right+Now+(2008)

I have turned Leon Jackson on to so many of my American friends and they love him. He’s really a talented kid. He won the X-Factor which is American Idol over there.

He got a big album deal out of it with Simon Cowell who, I think, shit on the kid and the album crapped out, and then Simon left him high and dry. He’s a bit lost I think now, but  someone just needs to pick this guy up and get behind him. He’s got so much talent. He wants to drop the crooner thing and be more of a singer songwriter which I think is a mistake. I mean he’s too good at it, and look at his stuff. He’s a once in a generation talent if he goes for it… IMHO

It’s titled best practical joke ever. I don’t know about that but it’s funny. I’ll give it that. I’m surprised they got away with it, these wacky Germans.

    Enjoy

Reagan could tell a joke that’s for damn sure. I wish he were still around, we’d get him to tell some jokes for Jokeyphone.

People I like - Kat Badar

Kat Badar is another one of these rising Youtube stars that I love to follow. She’s not hit her stride yet like a Marie Digby or Happy Slip but she’s got an amazing voice, and there’is something so unique about this kid that you just want her to succeed. She’s a natural. I love this Beatles cover here but some of her other stuff points to her future a little more clearly I think. I know she’s already building a sick little following but it’s worth it to try and kick her can a little down the street. Check her out and pass her on.
