    GOD'S FACEBOOK PAGE

I am a dork (and proud of it) for many reasons – but nothing defines my dorkdom more than the level of appreciation I have when technology meets things that anti technology.  For example, have you seen

God’s facebook page?  What, you didn’t think that he had one?  Well certainly you can’t be too surprised, everyone has a facebook page, it’s 2010 – get with it!  Fake facebook pages are beyond funny to me, because not only are the over the top ridiculous  but they are usually really smart, multi-layered and well thought out.  God’s profile (created by College Humor) is a perfect example of this – posting status updates about being bored cause there is no one to im with, creating Earth as a new group, Adam is his first friend (Adam and Eve being in a relationship shows up on his wall) – you get the jist.  They basically turned the story of Genesis into the funniest facebook feed you would ever want to see.  Also not to be missed are Obama’s first 100 days, Satan’s page, The Facebook Group of World Leaders, Dr Manhattan, Jesus’ Page, The Revolutionary War, and The Civil War.  Enjoy the laughter and welcome to 2010.

GOOGLE WILL HELP YOU FIND JOKES - SOMETIMES

I love Google so much, that sometimes when people say they use aol or yahoo I actually judge them.  I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have Google in my life.  In fact, do you think naming your child Google would be weird?  It’s not even that crazy a name in this day and age, I bet right now there is totally a kid who answers to the name Google.  ’Google, I told you had to finish up your homework before you went onto JokeyPhone – jeesh, kids these days!’  Sorry, I digress…But really, I love Google because it makes my life more efficient.  It’s organized, resourceful, and even helps with my searches by offering suggestions as I type.  For example, when I enter, ‘Why did the’ into Google, a pull down menu suggests: chicken cross the road, japanese attack pearl harbor, holocaust happen (apparently the list goes for fun to depressing – yikes).

Funniest fail blog I've ever seen.

The whole concept of a fail blog is really just kind of cruel. With that said I get why it’s so damn popular. It’s the modern day equivalent of sitting on your porch and seeing a fat kid on a bike hit a chuckhole and going flying. Once you know he’s all right you laugh for hours. This falls into that category and for the most part you know that the people are okay, just embarrassed as hell. It’s a new joke niche for the internet age obviously and it’s the cousin of Candid Camera and  America’s funniest Home Videos. It’s a beat meaner though, a little crueler and for that reason, sadly, much funnier when it works. This one takes the cake as one of my favorites. I’m sure I’ll come up with better, and if you have any good ideas send them along and I’ll post them.

    RELIGION AND THE JOKE

    9:00 am on March 2, 2010

Religion-Flowchart_1 Religion has always been something that is joked about.  One might argue that it’s an easy target, but when done right, it’s timeless.  Nothing is funnier than making fun of why I am the way I am, and blaming the people of the book from thousands of years ago.  In fact, I like to blame them for all my shortcomings, it makes dealing with my Jewish guilt easier to handle.  This flowchart to determine what religion you should follow is PERFECT and hits on every stereotype out there.  It’s both funny and true-ish and I recommend you explore your conversion options before it is too late (click on the image to view larger)…MEH…

People I like - Paolo Nutini

6a00d8341cd88f53ef0120a5b14b5f970c-320wiPaolo Nutini. There’s an odd name, eh? Kind of sounds like a guy you’d call in when the plumbing goes bad but he’s a very hot singer songwriter in the U.K. I don’t think he’s known much here. My daughter says she’s heard his song ‘New Shoes’ on the radio somewhere but his first album over there sold like a million copies. I didn’t really dig his second album. It seemed too off the mark for me, but I love this guys style. He’s Scottish with a little Italian in him. He’s a throaty crooner, like Joe Cocker meets Chet Baker. Very unique. One of a kind. I think his first album These Streets is as good as David Gray’s White Ladder.

My daughter Molly turned me onto this kid from England who she found through Nerdfighters . (She’s turned me onto all the good things I’ve found on the web. Very useful this parenting a teen thing.) Anyway, this kid is really talented. Stephen Fry is a fan as well. Check him out.

This isn’t a joke site but it is worth checking out if you want a quick smile and maybe even to think about things out there from a different perspective. It’s funded by VW and it’s out of Stockholm. If you liked the piano stairs that I posted earlier than this is a good site to check out. They’ve got a few others, as well as user submitted ideas to put a little laughter into the day to day world, out on the streets. Some of the ideas are damn good. Like I say, not jokes, but laughs and smiles. Check it out.

    FUNNY ART

SM120Art with a sense of humor is a fun way to cheer up dreary interiors.  Not only are they conversation starters but they are refreshing and often a surprising element of decor.  In an office it could encourage employees to think outside of the box (if that is what you are going for) or just remind them that you are the coolest boss ever.  More funny art after the jump…

    People I like - Edward Norton/Shauna Roberston

Picture 58Shauna Robertson, who owes me her whole adult life, and her beau Edward Norton, who owes me big time for befriending Shauna and getting her a green card in the first place, have put together an amazing website for truly a great cause. Not only is it a great cause, but using Amazon check in to allow you to donate makes it incredibly easy if you are an Amazon user and was a stroke of genius. The site is done in a very cool style that lets you watch video and follow links and opens you up to an area in Africa in a way that makes you want to jump on an airplane immediately and visit. No wonder Edward wants to spend so much energy to protect this part of the world. I know this has absolutely nothing to do with jokes, but I do love their whole deal, and love them so, what the hell….  pass this along and support Edward on his run.
